Gamification

From September 2011 until Februari 2012 I’ve been in a graduation project with RedAnt Business Solution in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The project was gamification of timesheet in the Mamut business software. I created a stand alone application which operated along the business software. Players could open the program and earn points for their registered working hours. These point where used to play a competative Get-the-Picture puzzle game.

The program was very well-received. During a five week period of testing the system proved to be very effective. During the first two weeks, while the program was implemented, all employees where 100% engaged in the daily activity. In the latter period, which served as baseline measurement, the engagement dropped gradiately. During this period, reïmplementation of the software was requested by the employees.

The above graph shows the ideal situation in which the empoyees are fully engaged. The second graph shows the actual results. The green area marks the time during which the software was implemented.
